yes ...mounting them can be a pain the easiest way is with a 10'' or so long screw driver with a notch cut in it. it also helps to tape up the sides of the shells so you dont scratch the paint when using the screw driver. it takes patiance and helps to have an extra pair of hands to hold the cushion to pull/push on it at the same time

Yup, long tool of some sort, When we did the new seat covers in my GFs 82, it was a pain, but we used a long screwdriver and a lot of patience to pop the springs/clips/enemy (call them what you will) into place.

Bottoms are slip fit and catch the wire clips rather easily. Backs are more of a PITA. A notch cut in a big screw driver helps considerably. My technique is to seat the wires in the clips on the side farthest from me, then use the screw driver to fit the wires into the clips on the side closest to me.

It's a little spooky using sharp pointy things around upholstery, so I take it slow.

The AIM has a diagram which helps to give an idea of how the installation is supposed to go.

You shouldn't need to cut the foam to install the covers to the frame. I don't know if this picture will help you but they really are snug when installed new.

No problem.. part if the install issue is knowing which way the clips face.. and hook.. It's a bear getting new covers to hook. On my old 79 I never hooked the bottoms.. I would alternate them from driver to passenger side to keep the wear even..
