Default First start, at last!

After 5 years today was the day, will it run?
350ho, powerjectionIII.
No fuel leaks, no oil leaks, no PS/hydraboost leaks (still need to get the air out), heater hoses filled up, electric fan came on, temp gauge works, no exhaust leaks, headlights buckets come up and go down fast and simultaniously, the battery charges from the alternator, it fired up immediatly at the first turn from the key and idles without hesitation, electric tach is rock, steady at 900 and follows nicely when revving without any bouncing around, throttle response is instant, engine/exhaust sounds great, too bad the digi camera doesn't capture the sound to well, but the video is the 3rd start ( first try it stalled as I didn't wait untill the pump primed) if you wait a second it's ok.
I'm soooooo happy as this is a major step forwards
3 issues unfortunatly:
The powerjection connects to the laptop, but there are no readout's like rpm, fuel air ratio, vacuum, nothing moves
I hear hissing in the cabine when the engine is shut off, so the RH dash will need to come out. It's probably a heater hose which is not connected or leaks
The 3rd issue bothers me more, the oil pressure gauge does not move, all others (clock, fuel, temp and amp) work. We did prime the engine and oil came up to the lifters on both sides and you felt resistance while turning the pump as the pressure was building. When you disconnect the blue from the sender the gauge pegs and I'm pretty sure it's a gauge sender and not the idiot light sender, so don't really know how to solve that.
But it didn't spoil the fun
Nick

Congrats! Always good to see big steps like this taken on a project. I am sure you will get those small issues sorted out and when you do it will be time to hit the road. I look forward to hearing a full report once you have some miles on it. Keep the videos and pics coming!

Nick,
You must have saved all of the hootin and hollarin and jumpin around and throwing air punches like a kid at Christmas until after you turned off the camera. I know that's what I'll do when mine gets the first key turn. Congrats. Sounds awesome!!!

Way to go Nick
I know you've put lots of work into that car, not an easy task so far from the part suppliers... Very cool, I'm glad I was able to see it in person. Now I'm ready to get back over there and have a ride
You need to get over to this side of the pond too.
Get us a video of the first drive so we can see the BIG smile (and with sound so we can hear you giggling)
Congratulations and WELL DONE,
Scott

Beautiful looking and sounding car - after all that time and effort - congrats! Good luck with locating and fixing the source of that hiss. I look forward to the next video of you cruising down the highway

Thanks everyone oh yes the day before I couldn't sleep at all! Maybe next year Scott, we didn't have time enough to plan a US trip The guy in the video who's collecting the tools came over just for a day (drove 150 miles) and he had the wheel bearings and distributor installed minutes which took me three weeks and still didn't get it right. (we're in the same US pickup truck club)
The 'proffesional Speedshop' installed the wrong oil pressure sensor and used a whole role of teflon tape to seal the thread. I replaced the sender to the correct type and thought I completely cleaned out the port. Not so, some remains blocked the small hole hence no pressure indication...cleaned it out today put it back in, started et voila 50-60 psi on the gauge when cold now I'm reassured the engine is working as it should and I could do my happy dance lol

The car looks fantastic and you should be very happy with your hard work. It took me 5 years to do my total rebuild so I can certainly appreciate your joy!

Waiting for your first driving video as you think your excited now!
