bringing 68 from out of the rain
Hi folks
I am the second owner of a 1968 427 t top Yellow w/all vin #s window sticker and some manual.
it's getting tuned up after sitting for 7 years. replacing belts, raditor,
brake system and what ever needs to be fixed.
after it's running it needs new tires? I thinks I want to keep it as a classic so, any suggestions what type and where. I and in Lake Forest, Orange county Ca.
all Weathe seals have been ordered but I think its best to have it paint prior to putting in the new seals. Does anyone Know a paint shop in my area that they would recomend. I do want to get to the same orginal color.
also I want to see it the stiching on the seats can be repaired and a new carpet kit.
thank for overlooking my spelling. any help would be great.
thanks again Rolland

Hi d r,
New 68 convertible.... NICE.
If you really want tires that are similar to what was on the car when new, there are 2 sources.
Coker Tire sells a reproduction of the F-70 Firestone Wide Oval, and Kelsey Tire sells a reproduction of the F-70 Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread.
These tires will make your car look quite original, but are very old tech for driving.
I'd love to see some pictures of your car!!!
Regards,
Alan

if you are going to paint the car, put the weather stripping in after paint.
tires that are older than 5 years "should" be replaced due to aging. Some of the tire sites have recommendations for replacement and "determining" if replacement is needed. Sun and heat can do a lot of damage. Tires are cheaper than fenders.
Enjoy the car and have a great summer, pictures would be great...
