I just got my 71 Coupe last week, finally got a plate for it and when all the storms stop I hope to take it out for a drive. One question I have is what do you normally do with the T-Tops when you go for a drive? I don't have a rear deck luggage rack.
They sit behind the seats. The factory installed belst to hold them in place. These are missing quite often.
You can get them on ebay pretty cheap.

I purchased a special padded bag to replace the OEM cheap stuff. The bag has more padding then the OEM'S. It has straps and both tops fit in the one bag. Depending on the weather or were I will be parking the car I will take them or leave them at home. I did get caught in a downpour one time without the tops. Lucky I had a golf umbrelia that covered the entire top or the car.
I've got the bags for my t tops too but they stay in the bags on the garage shelf. I bought a temp top that is sort of a convertible material that I carry which folds up and weighs ounces for leaving it on overnight or if caught out. Not for driving. It has wings that fold down over the rolled up windows with three suction cups on each and velcro straps that tie it to the center frame for the t tops. It's quite dry for overnights and keeps casual eyes more or less out though I don't leave anything valuable inside. It's called Protect A Top and available from Mid America. It comes in a nylon bag and is extremely light weight but rigid. A good solution for me who really doesn't deliberately drive it in the rain to begin with.
On my 76 they lay flat on the shelf in the back on top of one another and the y shaped strap goes over them to hold them in place...clips front to back. I just don't use mine as I said. too heavy, too much bother, too easy to knick the edges of the paint up and require touchup since it isn't a DD.
