I had been noticing a vibration coming from my left rear wheel. upon further investigation the lug nuts had started to loosen up. Knowing full well that this does not just happen on it own I tightened them back up and did the "Shake the Tire test". When grabbing at 9 and 3, no movement. 12 and 6 definitely had some play. Rotating the tire 90 degrees yielded the same result.
My first thought would be a bad wheel bearing, but i would have expected to have play in all orientations. Am i going to be able to get away with new wheel bearings, or does it sound like something more.
I should mention that the trailing arm needs to be replaced. But since I just finished rebuilding the entire front suspension i was hoping to be able to put the rear off until next year.
the 12-6 play does not indicate bearings to me when 3-9 is solid.don't panic.only change what is bad.what is wrong with your arms?rust?mine don't look great but they are no issue.and by all means watch your spelling and punctuation, some here get very upset.
12-6 play indicates wear in the differential yokes. They function as the upper arms of the suspension. The yokes wear inside the differential and can end up moving in and out.
They have been through too many Wisconsin winters and are badly rusted. Fortunately the frame pockets are not too bad. I just bought it two years ago, and it seems like the PO had been putting off any expensive repairs for a number of years.

He was saving the expensive repairs just for you, doesn't that make you feel special??
And, never apologize for something so utterly trivial as a mispelled word. That was soooo uncool.
