I am in need of rebuilds on the steering valve and possibly steering box, who is the rebuild guy for this? I thought it was Mike something, could not find it on any search. Is the drag link straight or does it have a slight bend on one end? Thanks
He gave a C2/C3 steering box rebuild seminar at Corvettes @ Carlisle last August. In other words, he can teach you how to do it, or you can pay him to do it. I considered it but then bought the Steeroids kit.
Gary does damn fine work, but I dunno if he can change the steering ratio in the process....if so, fine, but I suspect not....
the stock ratio is ~16-1 with ~3.7 turns lock to lock....
the rack or Borgeson Jeep box is ~2.7 turns lock to lock or near 12-1 ratio, with MODERN TIRES, wheels...you will notice a HUGE improvement....I had the '92 vette wheels/tires on the '72 for some years and they gave the car fits with high speed operation, wandering, inherent in the design far as I could figger out....did my own rack install similar to the commercial kits....back in winter 01-02....been fine since...
but you also have to note, that my car is a hotrod from wheels to roof, not a thing is left unmodified...not nuttin'....
