There are some reasons to do it, such as a major frame repair/problem. Barring that, I would say no.

I'm in the process of helping a friend with his '66. It didn't really need it, but he 'wanted to 'In hindsight the thing should have been left on. Lots of extra work for essentially no real gain except the top of the frame where nobody can see is painted a little better than it otherwise might have been.

If you're doing a full on show car, have at it. If not, save your time, money and energy. Leave it alone and enjoy the car.

Years ago on another forum I remember a fellow member fooled the NCRS judges with a body on resto. Just depends on how much "crud in-your-face" your willing to tolerate.

I'd fix it up & shine it up & throw that big block in it & go have some fun!!

If you have to ask us, you are not "itching" to do it...

And, if you're not "itching" to do it, you shouldn't.

Save your money and time and use it to enjoy an operational car!!

I am with 7T1vette on this, drive the car and enjoy it.

I have built quite afew frame off cars but not as much as my 67 Camaro in which I replaced every body panel including the roof. The 69 Corvette I am putting together, will be a driver and eventually will get some decent body work and paint.

I am nearly done with my Camaro and I love the result, but will never do it again. I am 37, I am a single dad, surf, do a lot of home renovation and car projects and simply cant justify another full on build. I would love to but the time and the money is not worth it to me, I have passed up years of enjoying the Camaro due to how labor intensive the build has been.

The Corvette, though now is cleaned, has tires and engine compartment received a good stripping and respray:

Crunched rear, no frame damage, super solid underneath. I have another rear half of a car and will section pieces in as I am driving it once on the road

The Camaro, every last piece was disassembled and rebuilt, converted to ZR1 6 speed, 600 plus hp 13 to 1 302
