I'm looking at a 1969 vert. The 7th digit of the VIN is a 9, not a S as most of the information I've seen says it should be for St. Louis. I thought the guy might have misread it when he put it in his ad, but I saw a picture and it looks like a 9 to me. Is this normal?

Thanks!
The VIN starts 194679S7xxxxx So the 7th character is S. Anything else and there is a problem. Can you post a picture of the vin plate?
After reading the registry I see that it is a big block 427 that makes things a little more interesting. A boat load of work ahead of this one but if it can be bought right might well be worth the effort.

It's an ebay auction. I'm going to call him tonight to try to see what his expectations are. I think the auction details were in the registry posting someone put up before.
The sellers says it needs a little love. I would say love and money. I think the love part is talking about the commitment. Best of luck to you I hope it works out to your liking. Keep us posted
I think it might be a non-starter for me. He's looking for 12K. I was thinking more along the lines of 6k. Am I crazy? For a car that will need a transmission, I think 12K is way too much. Probably too much of a gap to close. Oh well....more power to him if it gets that much.
it's an "S". the 'tails' on the second 9 and the 9 right next to it are slightly lower than the "S". with that much rust means the fire wall will be rusted thru too. i had a 72 Vega (unibody) and it looked like when i took the windshield wiper cover off and "presto"! no metal. sad ... so sad.
I guess I have underestimated the value of a 69 BB that is in pieces. I can honestly say I do not know what a 1969 BB Corvette in this condition is really worth. I can more quickly relate to what it takes to bring it back to life. Best of luck as you continue your search.
