Default C3 & c6 z06

Anyone have a C3 and a C6 Z06?

If so I'm thinking of a 2008 Z06, and if you had to choose between the two.. Or hang onto one..Which one would it be, and reasoning why?

I Love all Vettes... and wonder if it's a natural progression to think of going to a different "C" class of Vette.

Depends on what you will do with it. Z06 is a dime a dozen compared to C3 IMO. Not that there is anything negative about it, it is a great car but just not a head turner like a C3. If this is a weekender only type of ride, I'd go with C3. If it is to get much driving, the Z06 is the better car. Better economy, more comfortable ride all the bells and whistles.

That said, you get the Z06 and down the road you'll probably end up with a C3 also. They are both great cars in their own regards. You just can't beat the sophistication of the C5 and C6 for something that gets alot of miles put on it weekly.

The negative, you will lose more money on a Z06 because it has to depreciate whereas the C3 has already done that and is starting to climb back up.

It also depends on which c3 you have . If its an L71 427/435 all original etc. I would keep that over a c6z.
Newer cars are easier to replace and are depreciating .

Performance and reliability can't be touched between the c3 , and the c6z.
It also maters which c6z you have , a Ron Fellows, Will cooksley , carbon edition . These are worth more than the regular Z and will not depreciate as much.

I have both also 69 427 / 09 ZO6

C3's are anywhere from an auto 79 (that needs restoration ) to a 69 L88 Top Flight, so its important to know which C3 you are referring to .

I have a C6 Z06 and a 68 427/390. Love both cars. They are extremely different animals. The Z06 will walk away from the old 427 like it's standing still and still get 27 mpg on the highway with AC and stereo blasting.

That said, I would never sell a classic Corvette for a newer Corvette. I guess it depends on which older Corvette you have. If it's of the 185 horse variety, go for the Z06. If it's something like a 70-72 Lt-1 or a 68-72 big block stick with the old car. Ideally, you have one of each. The old cars are toys and the newer C6 Z06 is a violently fast car that you can travel with in comfort.

I have both. If I had to choose one, it would be the Z06. Mostly, because I enjoy driving. The C3 is fun to drive, but the Z06 is on a different planet with regards to speed, handling, and modern amenities. But the C3 gets much more attention from people. I broke down a couple of weeks ago which resulted in an impromptu car show for everyone passing by. Had numerous people coming up and talking about the car and trying to help diagnose the problem. I doubt I'd have the same reaction in the Z06, but I wouldn't know because it never breaks down.

I have a Numbers matching 1970 LS5 454 4Speed car with GM Documentation. Mulsanne Blue with Blue interior. Power windows and 3.08 gears.
I was thinking of the Z06 but would have to give up the 70 Vette.
I already heard an earful from some friends telling me to forget about it and not to go through with it.
Torn but I think it makes more sense to keep what I have and enjoy. Some times you want to experiance a different ride. The other thing killing me is that I know appreciation value would probably drop on the Z06 within years to come and the 70 would not... and it's hard to find another good one.
Thank for your input guys.
I'll just save more money and wait inorder to buy another car for the stable! LOL

I didn't realize that you already had one. Thought you were debating between the 2. Definitely keep the C3 and just wait til you can get the Z06. The only real comparison between the two is that they both say corvette. Other than that they are different beasts altogether. You can have one of each and really enjoy the different driving capabilities and looks of both.

C5s have dropped dramatically and the C6 will also when the C7 comes out. You can pick one up relatively cheap if you wait and shop. you really can't go wrong with either the new or the old school.

You guys are right! And sometimes the Head gets ahead of the Brain!.
I know I'll kick myself in a year or two when I wake up and realize what I've done.

For now the 70 stays, and I'll enjoy it.. and keep it.
The Z06 or!! maybe new C7 might be something to look at in the near future.

Thank God for this forum for guidance!

I am lucky enough to have a 69 Big Block vert & a 2008 Z06.

They are completely different animals, I use them for different types of driving.

The 69 is great for local spirited jaunts, cruise nights, and short drives, its heavy on gas, loud with the side pipes, rides like a buckboard, and scares small children, in otherwords, a perfect close to home weapond.

The Z06 is my road warriour, when I need to put down the miles, in comfort, its my first choice.
As mentioned, it'll give high 20's for milage, out run and corner almost anyother car on the road, all the while providing everything one could want in a modern car.

If I had to make a choice, I'd keep the 69, they'll never make them again and the Z06 will be topped in every area in a few years time, while heading for the basement in value.
