Starter.....
I have got the starter out of my 81, I was wondering if someone can tell me how to hook up the jumper cables so I can bench test the starter. I removed 3 smaller wires that went along with the big wire from the battery, they all went on the big lug. Then I had one small wire going to a small post on the starter. Do I just put the plus on the big lug and then just touch the ground to the starter housing? TIA

Positive to the big lug on the solenoid, negative to the starter case, and a jumper to the small terminal on the solenoid from the big lug. Be careful, the torque will make the starter jump. If it's on the bench and not clamped down, it'll jump off the bench. On the floor, put your foot on it.
