Default Blinkers not working

The blinkers in my 76 stopped working. The emergency flashers work. The stop lights work but both blinkers stopped working. I changed the fuse even though it still looked good. I also noticed that a couple of times when the breaks were on the left stop light didn't come on. Then the next time both break lights came on when the breaks were mashed down. Then the next time the left break light came on but not the right one. It seems both break lights are working now just no turn signals. Any ideas.... I guess i better go check the bulbs just in case but surely both break light bulbs are bot bad. Any ideas.

Default blinkers not working

I check the bulbs. Both were good. No I haven't tryed replacing the flasher. I thought if my emergency flashers still worked it couldn't be the flasher. Do you think its the flasher ?

its worth a shot after all they do go bad. and on GM wiring when a bulb goes out the blinker light in the dash will stay solid

There's a flasher for hazards and 1 for turn signals. Turn signal is over on the passenger side under the glove box.

Default Blinkers not working

Ok I put a new flasher under the passenger side of the car. Still not working. The emergency flashers work and also work blinking on instrument panel. Brake lights work. But blinkers do not blink or even light up on instrument panel. I have been told there is even another flasher sending unit under the dash by the steering column. Does anyone know if there is another flasher there too. Any help on getting these back working is appreciated. They worked till last weekend. I checked the fuse and even replaced it although it was still good. I did not replace the flasher by the fuse box since the emergency flashers work.

With the key on test the purple wire at the harmonica connector for power.

Default blinkers not working

Problem fixed!!! I am getting old and cant see too good up close and looking at the fuse box lying on my back makes me dizzy. So I took it to a friend and he found a fuse that I did not see that was blown. That was my problem... a glass 20 amp fuse in the fuse box. So anyway now we know. Thanks to everyone who responded to my problem.

Ok...I have the same exact problem you described,,,EXACT. I have changed the flasher (Round 552) for the turn signals....no luck there. Since my situation is exactly like you describe, can you rember which fuse was causing the problem? I did notice a 20 amp fuse blown and changed it....but it was my interior lights fuse and did not make a difference on the blinker. The blinkers worked just fine until 5 days ago.....

Your description "The emergency flashers work. The stop lights work but both blinkers stopped working. I changed the fuse even though it still looked good. I have a 1977

If your back-up lights are working the fuse is OK.

Default blinkers not working

The fuse was the second from the top on the left side of the fuse row. I changed that one I think and no luck. A friend of mine had a tester and found one blown. It was a 20 amp and he said it was the second from the top on that left side. My emergency flashers worked fine. The direction signals on the dash both blinked with the emergency flashers on. But when the turn signal lever was pulled the dash turn signal did not light up. After the new fuse was put in the dash signal lights worked as they should. I still think one of your fuses is blown. For me to see them its hard since I cant see up close very good and look up under the dash makes me dizzy. Anyway change to 20 amp fuses all of them if you want. I still say its a fuse. By the way there are 3 flasher sending units on the car. The silver one is with the fuses a light blue one is under the glove box and a third light blue one is under the steering column. Very hard to see I would think and in my condition I would never see it. Anyway its a fuse trust me. By the way my back up lights don't work and didn't work when I bought the car about a year ago. Let us know what you find out.

Second from top on the right side not the left side. Don't know why I said left side... getting older I guess.

Turn your key on,left signal on,check purple at the harmonica, check yellow next to purple. If purple is hot and yellow is not its the turn signal switch.
Cycle the hazard on and off a bunch of times-you might get lucky
