Hi folks, i would like to ask for some help in obtaining data.
my situation is like this, i have a Ferrari Daytona kit car, with the chassis, engine, transmission, etc. all based on the Corvette C3. basically, my front windshield is shattered, and im wondering if the replica car used the same windshield as the original C3, thus, can anyone provide me with the dimensions for the front windshield of a standard C3?
Hi l,
I measured the original windshield from my 71.
These dimensions are taken from the interior side of the glass, and the side to side dimensions don't take the curve of the glass into consideration; they're 'point to 'point'.
A-pillar 19 1/2"
Top 34 3/4"
Bottom 50 7/8"
The 'center' top to bottom measurement depends on what year the car is.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Alan
i havent been able to get pics of the car, but managed to dig out more information about it. it uses the McBurnie kit, so it is based on the Miami Vice replica kit. the Corvette frame that was used is a 1982 model.
anyone knows if the windshield is exactly the same as the standard C3 corvette?
Someone asked me about the car in that show which I had never seen & I guessed it was a Corvette modified to look like the Ferrari. So I watched the show & thought the windshield immediately identified the Corvette.
one last question, where is the best place online to get a replacement windshield? google search reveals loads of websites that offer them for sale, but i would like to know from you experienced people where is the best place to get them from?
Online may not be the best. Any automotive glass shop can obtain a replacement windsheild for you and install it. Check the yellow pages for a shop near you.
^i forgot to mention that im not located in the US... so it's alot harder for me to find Corvette parts, especially in this part of the world (south east asia). so i've got no choice but to order online :p
