Caliper seized, caused brake rotor to get bright red, pulled over, let car sit for a bit, fire started, extinguished, few minutes later, tire popped, fire started again, sad day for my '74 :-(
Well, consider your self lucky, that you still have a car. A lot of times it doesn't end this well. I had a buddy lose a 1970 cp to a brake fire. Sorry to here about the damage but it can be fixed. Get it fixed and get back out there and enjoy.
unfortunately I can relate to this one. I replaced the whole system from top to bottom after that very thing happened to me on an IL toll road. Glad you didn't skid off the road or or burn up the car.
I ended up buying a kit with all stainless lines, new rotors, calipers, pads, proportioning valve and master cylinder - not taking any chances...
Good luck! Remember to check the tire for flat spots if you are going to try to re-use it. Mine turned out to be OK.
I can sympathise, kmobrien76 .
I too had a caliper seize on my '74 (rear left) while driving home from a car show.
Not the best feeling in the world when you push the brake &
the pedal hits the floor & you keep moving (now I know why it's called an emergency brake (Yeah, mine works).
Didn't know what had happened 'til I removed the wheel. - pads were fried & caliper was cooked.
Luckily, no fire (yep, got extinguisher too).
Got new calipers/lines etc from VBP and haven't had a prob since. (from Downunder)

Re-use the tire? You mean the one that popped? Well, sure, it's only flat on the bottom, right?
