Thinking of adding an Opel GT to the C3 collection. Think it will fit in nicely.... or do I stay with all C3s .... Thoughts ?.... Or should I branch out into the C4 world ?
As it was known as the 'poor man's Corvette' I would stay Corvette No seriously they are veeeerrrryyyy small & it doesn't have a V8 so for me the choice for another C3 or C4 would be quickly made, although it's all up to your own preference and go with what you like. I imagine it would be hard for you living in US to get parts for a Opel. I sure kept the shippers busy during my Vette resto

I guess it depends on what you're looking for with this additional car. I think Opel GT's are pretty cool but, if I bought one, I would modify it by changing out the engine / transmission to something more powerful. I always thought they were a perfect candidate for a Buick GN turbo V6 and a 5 speed tranny.
I have a 70 Opel GT I use as my daily driver. It is fun to drive, gets great gas mileage, and is pretty spunky for what it is. Cool little car. Even though the paint is bad on mine, I still get lots of looks and compliments. No problem with parts, everything is available.
I am not much of a C4 fan, so if you want another Corvette, go C3. By the way, my plan is, once I get my 70 Corvette on the road again, I plan to make it my DD and sell the Opel GT. Not that I don't like the GT, I really enjoy it, it is just that I have been driving it for some years now and I am ready for a change.

Why not consider getting one of the older European sports cars to extend your collection, maybe even an older supercar like a Ferrari or a Lambo, etc.?
I always thought they were a nice looking car, almost bought one, years ago, but it was gone, when I got there. I would say go for it, and if you get it, post some pics.
Another "poor mans Corvette" was the Datsun 240Z. (I know its Japanese) Granted, good condition 240's are getting up there in price but 260's and 280's can still be had for reasonable prices. Plus they IRS, front discs, many had A/C, EFI became available in '77 as well as the optional 5-speed I think or you can swap one in very easily from a 280ZX, its a hatchback so you do have some usable trunk space, and the styling is very attractive in my opinion. I had a red '77 280Z with a 5-speed swapped in and I loved it. However if I pick up another one it will be a 240Z since they are significantly lighter and just seemed faster for the few I have driven.

Actually had a friend with one of these years ago. We both agreed it looked pretty cool, but not much else. If wanting to add another car, probably skip the C4 and jump into a C5 or C6. Problem is, after driving one of these, the C3's will probably just be left sitting in the garage.

The Datsun was a copy of the E-type. Not the Corvette, like the Opel was.
I have not seen an Opel GT in years I even forgot about them. Why haven’t many of them survived?
The unibody suffered from severe rust issues. Mine has a lot of rust and a lot of old bondo in it, it was that way when I got it. They are very prone to rust in the floors, fenders, rockers, and many other places.

Sort of like the Mustang 2's from the late 70's not many of them around because they rusted out?
I love the Opel GTs. If you are looking for an interesting change of pace, I'd buy one over a C4 in a minute.
After owning 16 Corvettes since the 70's, I was looking for something entirely different just to make things interesting. Thats why I bought the 2 Bricklins. Like my Brick, I'm sure you will get a new re-charge by buying something completely different and weird. Its fun.
