I am pretty sure that at some point, I will buy another to use more or less as a daily driver. I waffle between a newer C3, a newer C4 or a brand new vette, depending on what day you talk to me. In 4 more years, I will NEED a new daily driver, so I have that much time to decide
I just tell them "Well it must have started 33 years ago when I was 25 and bought my first one."
Don't let them bother you, their just jealous people trying to make you feel bad about your love for Corvettes.
Sometimes it is fun just to say **** just to mess with people...
Midlife crisis?
* Nope, just an extension of my really small Schmeckel"
* Nope, this is therapy so I don't choke the **** out of people who ask really dumb-azz questions.
* it was either this or (fill in the blank)
A) Drinking
B) Chasing tons of 19 year old pelt!
C) Stamp collecting
D) Both A and B
Anyway, I've been buyin', drivin', breakin', fixin', and sellin' Corvettes since I was 17. That means if Corvettes are a midlife crisis, I should have been gone years ago.
Thanks for the therapy fellows.
We need a Like Button like on FB. Prety much agree with all of you. Had my first vette at 19 a 1974, at 30 i had a 1985, Got married had a son got into racing Bmx Bicycles, Go karts, Boating. All while never loosing passion for vettes. Now at 50 Im still a kid, I guess I was always kid I just had to do the adult thing for a while. Why is it a mid life crissis at 50 but not at 19. Iam re-living my childhood And dont care what anybodys thinks. Curently with a custom 69 & 70 and 74 4 speed needing full restoration. HA, I showed those adults. Nener, nener, nener
A neighbor of mine once told me that it's not a mid-life crisis...you're just at a point in your life when you can actually afford to buy what you want.
Yep when you say this to them they usually shut-up.
The guys that say "its a mid-life crises " are jealous because their wives won't let them buy one, or they can't afford it so they try to rain on your parade..
The women that say it are scared that their husbands would want one and are secretly trying to make a positive event into a negative.
Remember this famous quote,
"Most men live lives of quiet desperation"
Some of us live life to the max, and we are a threat to men and a fear of many women... as they drive through life as "Cold timid souls who know neither great victory, nor stunning defeat"!!! (another great quote)
Just keep owning and driving your vette and in time you won't be middle aged and no one will say that to you anymore. What they may say is: Does that car work to get chicks?
I'm soon to be 68.
Who gives a flip what somebody who doesn't have one says? Just say "thank you!" and smile.

I heartily agree! My brother and I have been buying and selling muscle cars and Corvettes together as a hobby since we were teenagers.
Sometimes we pull 2 or 3 cars out of his or my garage and sit in the driveway with a cold beverage and look at and talk about the beautiful sculptures sitting in front of us.
Invariably some p-whipped manish-boy comes walking by pushing a stroller full of kids that I am sure he preferred to have waited later in life to have. These sheepish "men" will stop and say things like " I used to have one but sold it when I got married" or "I've always wanted one but have to wait til the kids are out of college"
My brother and I politely smile and nod.
As they walk away I ponder these poor broken souls and think:
These sheepish "men" were once proud Stallions allowed to run free amongst a harem full of beautiful mates now they are geldings forced to pull a cart! "There but for the grace of god go I..."
That's interesting. Wonder as an aside if there's ever been a car model made and sold that's called a Patriot? Not an all bad name though the name Corvette for the fast British light destroyer or ship carries the speed theme well.
I agree with you about owning one and why, one of several reasons why.

The Patriot is a vehicle in the Grand Theft Auto game series, along with the Coquette. Guess what the Coquette looks like...(think C6)
I just tell them "nope.. it was actually easy to buy it. No crisis at all... now finding the plastic surgeon to put the 38 DD's on my wife.. now that may turn into a crisis if I can't find the right doc. Keep you posted..."
When my wife & me were dating(50yrs ago), I told her that some day I was going to drive Cadillacs and have a Corvette. Well it took me about that long to get them and she will vouch for me that I said that when people say that to me. They say no more!
