Make your own. My friend Tyler made his own. He even made about 3 different sets, so he could tune the exhaust how he wanted on his Grand Sport.
Once you get the sheet of stainless steel, do a few dry runs to find out exactly what size diameter needs to be cut from it and the radius needed, find a guy with a flow jet plasma cutter, have them punched out, bend them, weld them to the inner pipe, then put the tabs on them to screw them to the side pipes and cap the inner pipes, you will wish you only paid $300 for them.
That all makes sense except the paying someone to do it. It's all simple cuts and welding. However I am a college student living in a 1 bedroom apartment, no room for welding -- which is really the only reason I haven't made my own.

Well stated. Best $300 I've spent so far on my Vette.
There is much more to them than some steel strips welded to a water pipe. Bubba couldn't make these.
Not to mention the sound is perfect and the performance great.
At the suggestion of a fellow CF member, I contacted Sweet Thunder and told them I wanted to reduce the decibel level and asked what they offered. I received these baffle/extenders with the instruction to install in front of the muffler insert. I know nothing about these systems, but can I really expect a reduction with these little pieces of pipe? There is a slight taper at the one end which is supposed to make the difference? Before I pull off my Hooker tubes, and tack weld these, I wanted to know if anyone can tell me about this first - especially if you have done this before. Thanks!
Recently installed Hooker side pipes using STS baffles on my 69 vette 568ci. I have drilled 7/8" hole through the cap of the baffles but would like a bit deeper sound. Will I get deeper sound by drilling a bigger hole or taking the caps completely off, not concerned about loudness.
Thanks !
