Matching numbers question
I had my engine pulled and want to see if its the original. I looked all over the engine and the only legible numbers i could find were on the back kinda like this:
H35 010
509 76
I think 482624 was on the top. Does this sound like an original engine? None of these numbers match the VIN; the car is a 79.

Front of the engine on the passenger side. Below the valve cover is a stamp pad like this, shows vin and engine type:
If it's painted & can't be read, don't use sandpaper or an abrasive. Use a paint remover.
