I'm in the process of a complete frame off restoration and it has come time to order shocks. I am needing to figure out which shocks to order. It's not going to be raced or anything. Just go to car shows and drive on the weekends. I just want a smooth and comfortable ride. Any siggestions?
delco was oem quality and still is for that car I believe. I replaced mine with twin tube KYB's which were slightly stiffer than Delcos but not as stiff as either Billstein. The Billsteins are universally adored, one model for normal driving and one for racing but they are tres' expensive...much more. There are also versions of adjustable shocks as well.
I found that the KYB's were a great alternative and am very happy with them since January...still have a good steel rear transverse leaf spring on mine and it is not a race car though it's gone around a road race course for three 25 minute sessions with me driving it and did just fine with the KYB's though better racers would have wanted the billsteins.
