Default Carcapsule

Has anyone used this product and could express their comments. It is a clear plastic bubble to store your car in with constant air movement thru a filter. Thanks. John

What would blowing air on your car accomplish?

I have one. I bought for use in a high dust and high humidity area (Houston body shop).

The circulation of air in the capsule merely serves to keep it inflated. And the fan is also needed because zipped up plastic will not breathe. Creating all kinda of moisture issues.

The capsule keeps the temp and moisture consistant with the outside air. Nothing more or less.

Due to no climate control in the above shop, I used a $175 dehumidifier (dessicant bags will NOT work) with external sump pump to dispose of the 5 gallons of water per day output. The worst times for moisture here is Sep-May.

I also had to build a PVC frame to make it easy to drive into. Unless you have two people the plastic can drag over your finish.

In my application it worked stellar. Keeps it at 40%- 24x7 and not a spec of dust.

My total above system (frame,capsule,de-humidifier)cost $750 delivered.

It protected my C2 during the restoration process. Before the bubble it was rusting and deteriorating before my eyes.

Despite the crystal clear Car capsule ad,it does NOT make a good display case.

Oh it's also bulbous. Sticks out about 2 feet on each side of the car. So it will crowd your other stuff in a conventional 2 car garage.

I highly reccomend the Capsule overall.

BUT!

IMHO you to have a special need for this kinda cover. A soft clean cotton cover in your garage will be much easier to deal with.

If the moisture is high? The de-humidifier works great in the bubble or your garage above 40 degrees F.

Now that I have climate control in my new shop. I don't use the bubble much. But it sure paid for itself in the body shop.

Ps. It is good for a long term storage in a climate controlled area. If you have a perfect concourse car, that isn't driven much?

This will alleviate the repeated contact with your paint surfaces from dusting. ie:black paint. It will also keep dust from settling on your undercarriage and interior surfaces. You can leave the windows vented too.

If mice are a worry? Just put sticky traps around the outside.

Yes, there are many folks that have the need for this level of protection.

I had one and the best feature for me was that your car can not get bumped. I was afraid my Dad, who is not a car guy, would lean something some where that might fall on the car. You can drop a 5 lbs hammer on top and it will not hit your car.I also had an outdoor one. I would not recommend those. I tried to use one over winter and they dont like wind and snow.

Thanks for the input. I think its not worth the hassle as I don't have humidity issues and my car is tucked away in the 3rd stall of a 3 car garage. I'll stick with my nice wolf cover.

I've been using the Car Jacket, with the 10lb desiccant cans, with great success for around 20 years.
