Johnny Carson Pace Car???
I have a question. I found this item on eBay yesterday.
[IMG][/IMG]
The seller claims that this key chain, and two others like it were given to Johnny Carson when he purchased a 1978 Corvette Indy Pace Car replica from the Santa Monica Chevrolet/Buick dealership. The back had the inscription "Santa Monica Chevrolet - Presented to Johnny Carson". The seller makes the further claim that it was purchased in an estate sale. I opened the bidding on this key chain, but after doing some further research and being outbid, I opted not to ante up.
I can find no proof that Johnny Carson ever purchased a '78 Pace Car replica, nor a '78 Corvette at all. The auction is over; the key chain went for $171.00. My interest in this is only curiousity now. I'm looking for your guys' input. Did Carson ever own a '78?
Thanks,
Randy

....this White '86 coupe was part of the Bob McDorman Collection in recent years and was sold last year in Columbus, Ohio when Bob sold 95% of his collection.

IF Johnny Carson (the TV personality...not the son of Wilbur Carson in Paducah, KY) owned a '78 P/C, I would guess that whoever has that car now also has the 'original' key fob.
Now, if you are still enthralled with buying such an item, I will offer to sell you a book on "How Not To Be Gullible"....and it's only $87.50.

Im going to say the 3 times I saw Carson's Corvette come up for sale, there was no "bump" to the price for celebrity's sake.
