undercoating
i had my '78 undercoated in 1980, as it was the thing to do. the car has never been in the snow and only in the rain a few times and always dry garage kept. the undercoating is starting to flake / peel off in a couple of spots on the frame rails. there seems to be some very light surface rust under the coating where is has peeled. any ideas on a painless / easy (just kidding) way to remove all of from the frame? I'm not too worried about the coating on the underneath of the floor pans or cross members.

If its that silver type undercoating, leave it alone. You will have many many hours into getting it off. My car had it on the entire front underbody and wheel wells and took hours to get off. I would leave it alone on a driver.
