I have Magnaflows, too, and mine don't sound like that clip either. But sound is the combination of cam and exhaust system.
I'll second that as I have Magnflows on mine that I believe are the same ones as in this video. Mine however dont' sound like that because I just don't have the engine HP for it, 350ci/270hp, to sound like that (yet ).
That pickup is what I'm after cam wise. Not QUITE the right exhaust combo, but getting close. Haven't got speakers plugged in to hear your magnaflows but will listen later today. Magnaflows have always sounded good to me on other cars.
I've been reading some horror stories about the fit of side pipes (including Hookers on this forum). That's not good as it may be hard around here to find someone with the know-how to make them fit, and WAY harder to find someone with specialist Corvette knowledge who doesn't charge a ridiculous hourly rate. There may be one or two out there but not known to me.
So just going for factory side pipes is looking like a more viable option right now. They will definately fit no problem right? With the right cam, it should give me close to the sound I want.
Nice Vette Billy. Very clean tuff looking engine. Vislegis, yeah, that is a good looking Vette also with some nice rear flares. I suspect lots of HP is responsible for that sound.
Exhaust sound really boils down to the what the owner likes. Sort of like a favorite color. Your going to get all sorts of opinions on this. Mainly requires the correct engine mods, cid, to create a desired sound as others have mentioned above.
I wanted these Spintech mufflers after hearing them in person and in videos when I did a search, but found out they are a big muffler, made for trucks/RV's, etc. To Big for the rear of a Vette. I think I got sorta close with my current selection not quite as loud.
Here are some spintechs on a BB Chevelle. Turn it up.

Yeah! That Chevelle sounds awsome. Especially at higher RPM.
I know this is a Ford and may offend some people here... BUT, I do love the sound. I'm aware Fords and GMs have distinctly different enough sounds, but these are the kind of sounds I like; especially the reving out at about 50sec.
Oh, and for those who are offended about their Magnaflows, I wasn't knocking the brand, just an example of the kind of sound I don't want I liked the idle on the big block!
Guys its got to be a corvette c3 sound clip, you cant go buy anything other then a c3, other cars will sound different then ours, alot different i might add.Muffler location is it and we cant put mufflers in the middle of our cars, usually , a muffler thats in the middle of the exhaust, sounds alot better then being on the end of the exhaust. You can put flowmasters on a c3 all day long and it wont sound like a mustang or a camaro, etc. The engine does change sound too but the biggest difference is muffler location.

that's what i put on my 78 383 stroker and they sound fantastic. in addition, you get the sound, but the heat stays under the car instead of rising up the door skins. no burned legs either, lol

I also think the length of the car has a huge impact too. With Vettes being shorter, they should have a higher pitched sound as there is less pipe for the exhaust to travel through. Camaros and Mustangs would be the same vs Caddys and older GTOs. My pa's '59 Caddy has an awsomely deep sound whilst not being a smog era drone type sound.
