I got rid of my bike when cell phones came out.People just can't hang up and drive. They have to wonder all over the road.I'm old and I don't like the word surgery.
I'm with you , I got rid of my bike 10 years ago , too many squealing tires coming up behind me at traffic lights.
No way in he!! I would ride a bike today with all the texting going on.
Damn! You are lucky it wasn't worse! Take it easy and soon you'll be beck to working on the Vette.

It always makes me wonder when someone gets hurt badly, and others say "Wow! You are lucky you weren't killed!!" If he was lucky, he wouldn't have been hit by the pick-up truck in the first place. I am sure he isn't felling very lucky right about now.
Anyway, I haven't ridden in a few years, (had to sell the bike a few years ago to pay the mortgage one month........) but when I did, I always would ride around pretending that I was invisible, and could not be seen by anybody. And the small percentage of people who could see me, were TRYING to hit me. Riding with this attitude has saved me from more than one serious accident. Blind-sided by a pick-up, tho.....wow, that's a tough one to watch out for, ya know?

I understand this...But I would NEVER give up my bikes. I just rode 600 miles on my sportbike yesterday, out to the Black Hills. Sitting at an outdoor cafe in Hill City right now. What a night. I put on a minimum of 15,000 miles each year. Almost 100,000 miles on my '03 Goldwing. Ride march til december. You just have to ride like you know all the cages are TRYING to kill you.
OP. Sorry to hijack. Accidents happen, even when your at your best. I wish you a speedy recovery. I can't imagine your pain.
OK, look, if you are going to sue, here is what you need to remember: You are having bad dreams, and you can no longer "perform" in bed. That's what you need to say in order to get paid!!
