Measure the diameter of the large mast section. A drill index works if you don't have a mike.
Most originals were 5/16", but some 'slimlines' and service replacements were 1/4",
Does your original have the rubber mounts on the mast tube?
Anyway, I have an NOS 1/4" mast available.

While not on older Vette's, have replaced power masts on other cars with Metra units quite reasonably. They claim not having to remove the whole unit, but do it anyway for a good clean up and lube. Also replaced whole units with Hoffmans from places like Crutchfield a few times.
