Would you suggest someone with no mechanical expience to attempt replacing rug, 1979 l82? If so where would you order carpet from. How many hours did it take you to complete? I would want some kind of heat absorbing layer to put down first. My car gets damn hot where your feet go.

Hi opt,
I'll leave the suppliers to others, but I believe most people can replace the carpet.
I think you'll need to take pictures as you remove the original, and remove it carefully so you can see how it was installed. Then after you put the heat barrier in, start on the carpet. Go slowly, and don't CUT ANYTHING until you've test fitted it and are sure of what you're doing.
Willcox for the new carpet?
Regards,
Alan

VERY good! I took everything out of the interior / rear interior and began. A suggestion on the center console tunnel and floor boards. Go to Home Deport / Lowes and get some chimney flash. It is a foil covered rubber that is flexible and has a a sticky backing on the rubber. I took off all the old foil from the interior, painted the tunnel and floorboards with a thick coat of Rustolium, then used 2 rolls of this foil and covered the tunnel and floorboards. Just like Dyna-mat for sound deadening, but easier to work with. $20 per roll. It also is a GREAT heat barrier. My feet are very comfortable on long drives. :-)

Just a thought ...
