I'm in need of the forum's vast knowledge. I have a 79 that is in need of some parts replacement....well many to be exact but the one I'm in question of I don't have any idea the parts name. It is located in the front of the car just under the fiberglass in front of the headlight. The frame part that the headlight door actuator supports, headlight looms, a horn, and a center brace is all bolted into it. It looks as though it bolts into the front fender well area. I thought I saw the name at sometime and it was called "core support" but want to make sure before ordering.
i believe so... of course mine looks slightly different being that bubba got a hold of it and the other original stuff is rusted out... I have a eckler cat will take a look...thanks for the link.
For parts name nomenclature, purchase the 79 assembly instruction manual (AIM). The AIM lists all the parts installed on the car during assembly, lists the GM part names, and shows the original GM part numbers.
The exception is for parts which were included in assemblies as received from the parts provider. The headlight bar was one of these; not installed on the assmebly line. It arrived at St. Louis already installed in the hood surround panel.
Ya...I've been needing to get an AIM... think I saw a like here on the forum that mentioned one that is in a cd version. I also found a instruction on how to get it out and put one in from the wilcox website.
The Aim's on cd are a great help to working on these cars. Plus, you can use page numbers or the UPC and Sheet numbers to reference what you are after.
