New Eaton spring installed, much better
Installed the standard 6/3 rear leaf spring this weekend on my 71 and I'm pretty happy with it. The ride is way better than the old JRS spring. The JRS spring was very bouncy. But the main reason I replaced it is, it was lopsided. The PO installed a 10" bolt on one side and 8" on the other to level it out.
I even took it all apart and painted it light gray. Also installed all new hardware.
So, +1 for Eaton Detroit Springs.

I also installed an Eaton 9 leaf spring earlier this year. As you did, I disassembled/sand blasted/prime and painted it. I've been very happy with it and it restored my ride height back to stock. The original spring was shot.
