Default wiper door linkage

Can anyone tell me if you can adjust the wiper door and new linkage to fit inside my fenders?

What do you mean by "fit inside my fenders"? Are they too wide or sitting too high? There are adjustments for height.

The wiper door is closer to one fender than the other and is draging on one fender.

If I remember right, it's by the washers you put on the studs that mount it to the firewall.

If you're talking about a side to side adjustment, there are three pairs of studs which fasten the linkage to the firewall, a pair on each side with a plate, vertical orientation, and one other pair where the bracket for the vacuum servo fastens to the firewall. If you loosen the three pairs you may get some side to side adjustment. There's a sheet metal plate which fastens the linkage to the lower windshield frame as well, one on each side. I'm not sure how much adjustment you'll get there. The sheet metal brackets appear to be there to keep the linkage from rocking fore/aft. They may allow some side to side adjusting. You won't get a lot of adjustment but maybe enough.

One other item, you may want to loosen the screws which fasten the grille, in front of the wiper door, to gain a bit of movement.

There are sometimes some shims used but these are for fore/aft adjustment, closer to the windshield or further.

Hi 504,
Here's a picture of one of the screw/plates that BB noted that need to be loosened for side to side wiper door/grill movement. The second picture shows the sheet metal plate he mentions too. It's in the center of the picture, and mounts with 1 hex headed screw.
Remember you need to loosen the actuator bracket too, when you move the wiper door mechanism.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
This looks like the plate for the center bracket which holds up the grille. There are two other plates, one on each side with studs and nuts. Won't hurt to loosen all a bit and as Alan stated the bracket for the actuator. That may give you some side to side adjustment. Hope this helps.
