Default Rookie question

I'm doing my best to read through the FAQ's and what not to learn how to navigate the forum properly... but what are the little envelope things to the left of all the threads? Some have a lock over them, some appear to be open with papers showing and some are sealed? When I post, it shows a sealed envelope. What does this mean?

Thank you, Jason

I'm photographing EVERYTHING!!! I've started a "photobucket" account as recommended by one member. It just seems hard to organize pictures and... well... what I'm trying to say is I have no idea how to funnel my story into this site for others to see??? I would love nothing more than to have a running photo story for all to see. That way I can get suggestions from others... and have mistakes that I miss pointed out. I love this site... I'm just not super savy with computers! I've been to several links that are a running documentation of their efforts. Any clarification will be appreciated!

Add a share to your Photobucket Corvette album. If you share it, you can post the link and the rest of us can connect and take a look.

CAUTION: do not share anything in Photobucket you do not what the general public to see.

Hi Jason,
If you take a lot of pictures, organizing them, and keeping them organized, can be a problem.
I file mine into 4 albums. Exterior, Interior, Mechanical, and Chassis. Anything you can see looking through the hood, (or laying on the ground under the engine), goes in Mechanical. Everything else having to do with the frame and running gear goes in Chassis.
I have a 5th album that has to do with documentation of any part regardless of where the part is. For instance both a picture of the engine pad and a date stamp on the inside of a door panel go in the documentation album even though the part is from one of the 4 main albums.
I'm continuing to take pictures so I'm now working with about 3000 pictures. Most of the time I can find a particular picture pretty quickly, but sometimes I 'lose' one that I know is somewhere.
My first upload to PhotoBucket was 375 pictures which were scans from my film camera. The digital camera has changed everything. How much time I'm working on my car now determines how much time I can devote to trying to take a particular picture for someone.
POST PICTURES OF WHAT YOU"RE DOING!
Regards,
Alan
