Absolutely! I'm very satisfied with my '80. I was on a tight budget and bought mine with a dead player under the hood. It's a very decent, well equipped car with all the good options (gymkhana, alloy wheels, cassette radio with four speakers, and all the power options) sitting in my driveway for around $4K. Even with adding a built (by me) 355 and fixing the miscellaneous things that always need attention (meaning mostly the vacuum system and weatherstripping) I have around $6500 in it and I drive it 100 miles a day to work and back when the weather is decent. New carpet is all that I really need now to have a nice car. plan on doing most of the work yourself and you'll be fine.

dboz: I have been looking through some of the parts / mods available and I have to say WOW. There are some very cool things out there for the C3's! I could easlily see making a really fun car, and if I did it a little at a time it would be pretty reasonable to do. The LS swap while it sounds like a great idea on many levels, would be a little beyond my plans right now, but I said that with who knows how many cars in the past "Oh, that engine will be just fine..." Two years later I'm stuffing a built 440 into it

81pilot: I totally agree with you. While I do like the bumber cars, I'm really a fan of any C3 car. Just love the lines! I also agree with you on the seats etc. From the photos I have been looking at the interiors on the 80 - 82 are really nice! I have been researching some things such as what year did they go from a carb to FI and that sort of thing.

Love to learn new things, and this has been really exciting! I'm getting pretty pumped on the idea of owning a Vette, and also about having something to tinker with again. I've really missed that during the last 3 years or so.

Sounds exactly like what I have in mind! I am looking forward to getting dirty again - it's just been to long and I miss it. I have read in several places that the headlights on the C3's can be an issue. Are parts available for this? And if so, are they reasonable in price?

I have a new seat option that should be here by the end of next week. I hope they fit. You can rebuild the lights, all parts are available. Some not so cheap though.
