thanks guys!!!! yes i'm spraying it at home. i've been an auto painter
for over 20 years and i'm still amazed i get a cleaner paint job at home then in the fancy downdraft booths i've painted in.
the top color on the hood is black with blue and purple pearl in it. it looks black till the sun hits it then the pearl shows up.

Beautiful man. How much is that running you. I may end up being a client, I'd love to paint my vettes myself but would like to have some professional help for such a big and expensive project.

Very, very nice! What gun are you using for your home work?

I am gearing up to apply my sealer and then ramp through the primer, color, clear.

Pictures like this help to give me courage to strip and paint my '81. Great job so far! I love the work you have done on the hood. Keep us posted.

Very nice....so familiar too. I like the subtle flake in the strip, you're making me wish I would've done something like that in mine!

Is that a blue tape line from the black to silver or blue paint line for transition?

i have always used sata jet guns. i have 3 sata nr2000s, (1 for base and 1 for clear and 1 spare) 2 sata rp's,
2 sata nr95s (for primer) and 1 or 2 other satas that i haven't used in a long time. i don't remember whats they are.

Rob and Steve, i will let you know when it's all done and we can all meet up at Rosas or cnc. it will be @ a month or so before it's all back together though.

BlueGTP, i remember seeing your pics when you painted it and really liked what you did to the hood. so i wanted to do something similar to mine. the blue is actually a 1/8 painted stripe between the 2 colors. i used to paint alot of sportbikes and had some blue left over from a zx7 i painted. thats what i used for the pinstripe.

Hardway, sometimes just getting started is the hardest part. i've been putting this off for weeks and finally forced myself to start stripping it down.

75+78 corvettes, i spent @ $850-900. i think on all the materials. paint and materials are not cheap anymore and if you mess up and have to repaint something it's gonna cost you $$$$$ nowdays with these prices just the blue i'm using was @ $140.00 a quart. and the black pearl was close to $100.00 a quart. if you have any questions or need help just let me know.

djrammer, new paint looks soooo good. it looks like it's still wet today. i still want to sand and buff everything once it's all painted though.

thanks for all the compliments!!! i will post all my progress as i go along.

more progress today. the front bumper really needs to be replaced. it's the original 82 cover and it's really wavy. but it will have to do for now. tomorrow the car gets sprayed, then the fun starts..... sanding, buffing and reassembly.
