This car has less than a hundred miles on the engine . The engine was professionally built by Power Engineering. It is a 350sbc, 4 bolt mains, 40 over pistons, full roller engine with forged crank rods and pistons. It was built for nitrous, but I never installed it. I have the complete build sheet. The heads are PBM-DartSS, 170cc intake ,67cc chamber 2.02/1.60 stainless valves w/ screw in studs. I have the purchase sheet for heads also. The transmission is a 350/5000 stall with a shift kit. The car has dual 40 series Flowmaster exhaust with shorty headers. It has a nice chop to it. I am not sure of the size of the cam shaft, I believe I picked a 513 lift but I am not sure of the duration. New tires, new radiator, new U joints on half shafts, new shocks. It has duel electric fans and a full set of gauges with a monster tach installed in the dash. Interior is in great shape. The car paint is in good shape. It also has a new radio. Some things that need attention are: One T top has a crack on the corner and needs a new gasket. The passenger window is not working, header gasket is leaking. minor stuff.
I was building this car for a streetable bracket car. It has no A/C or heat, but it does go fast!
Thoughts, Opinions? Price? He's asking $5800.
What would it take to put the a/c and heat back?
For that kind of money I would think that putting air and heat back on it would not be a big deal.
What about new Gasket, Fix window, Header Gasket Leaking??? Still a good price?

I'm all about mods, and to me it sounds pretty decent. One thing my father always said about purchasing modded cars though "Buying a heavily modded car is like buying someones science experiment"
I'm def interested...just wondering how much it would cost to fix what he "says" needs to be fixed. Because we all know...there is always more that needs to be fixed
Look over it really really good. Then look over it again. You live in Atlanta, so you need heat and ac, especially in a black car, this past summer in Ga was brutal. All of that stuff may be able to be fixed rather easily, but then again, you buy it, you'll want to drive it. Are you willing to buy a car that you will have to work on before you can enjoy it? I guess for me that would be the question I'd have to ask myself. Check your box for a PM, I may have an alternative for you as well...

PM replied to.
Yeah...A/C and Heat are a must here...even tho I keep the windows open with the a/c on...I still need it.
Yeah I might want a car that is ready to go....so to speak
I agree with your Father on the modded engine, He sounds like a pretty smart guy. It will be very fun to drive, but the 1980 rear end may not be up for the task. There is always a weak link in a drive train, someone is fixin to find it, hope its not you. I prefer reliability, over performance, in my 80 Corvette. As for the Heat A/C find out if the guy has any of the parts left. If you are starting from scratch you could spend 2 grand easy, and lots of hours, making it all work correctly. 5800 seems OK, but researce the cost of the heat and AC then offer him that much less. You would need a doner car, or at least a complete system from an 80 model. It won`t be cheap. Also see if the car has been lightened up elswhere, like the front steel tube member removed ? He had plans on racin it, it could be a project to get it back to a street car?
5000 RPM's is a pretty radical converter for a street driven car too. it wont be much fun if you get caught out when it starts raining. alot of cam for a street driven auto trans car too.

the thing that would worry me is the price, I mean arent these cars usually going for about 15 - 20 grand in good condition?
and with that amount of modifications to it sounds like either he was building a custom street rod or alot of things bother him about it, like it may have had alot of problems.

Sounds to me like this car was built more for the drag strip than the street. I agree that the stall on the converter is too high for a street car and cam sounds too big also. If you are only going to drive it to cars shows once in a while it might be ok. If you want to have a streetable car to take the wife to dinner and stuff, this car isn't really set up for that.
On the other hand, the price sounds very good. If it were me, I might buy the car, sell this motor and use the procedes to buy a GM crate motor that is a bit more mild.
Also, Vintage Air makes kits to install A/C in older cars. http://www.vintageair.com/
You would need to verify "5000 stall" & get a pic. of pass. side underhood to see if any A/C parts are there.
FYI, many times "A/C removed" is compressor, hoses & maybe condenser leaving the evap. & interior parts.
