Here's some pics of my (ricer) stainless mufflers with duel tips (Feebay bargain $49 each).
No discoloration on the tips. These are actually further from the body work than the previous tips and there are no probs with that either. They're also mounted upside down (opposite to the way ricers would mount'em) PLUS, They sound awesome.
Cheers,
Gav
Well, I don't really care for the exhaust tips, or the Lambo doors, for that matter, but it all personal preference, right? As my Grandpappy used to say: "It'd be an awfully boring world if we all liked the same things.....".
However,.........I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the way you have the t-tops sitting under the back of the car, acting as mirrors, so you can see the bottom of the exhaust tips!!!!!!! Very clever!!!!!
No, I have no intentions of doing this on mine. I was just commenting on the looks of it.
But honestly, can they make that big of a difference? They seem to stick out far enough to not be blowing directly on the paint and when he is driving, the speed should help keep the exhaust from blowing directly on the car. For augmentative purposes, how much time do you really spend at idle when driving? (not considering traffic jams)
You are missing the low pressure factor. On a fairly aerodynamic car(or any car for that matter), the rear at speed creates a low pressure gradient allowing exhaust to basically flow backward after it exits the pipe. This even happens on SUV's. In the old days there were warnings to not ride in the back of a station wagon with the hatch open due to exhaust entering the back. My car has slash cuts pointing the normal way, and every time I wash the car I have to scrub the exhaust crap off the bumper, and it is worse after highway driving and much much less when driving in town. The truth is that it is worse at highway speed than in a traffic jam.
Is that a stingray emblem from the C7 concept on your front fender? I was thinking about doing that but I hadn't spent the time to see if I could even buy one since it was a concept.

I definitely like the looks of both the chrome and stainless steal. But I think I prefer the look of the pipes that stick straight out and not down.
If I go with the curved down, I will most likely do stainless, but I do the straight pipe, more than likely will do chrome. Especially if I do dual tips.
Having pipes stick straight out means that the mufflers are visible from the side of the car. Not a good look, in my opinion.
Interesting. I have never thought about that before, nor has it ever come to mind when I was looking at other cars that had straight pipes. I will have to keep this in mind.

Don't have pics to post, but I have Borla's with dual straight ss tips on each side. Borla's are a smaller muffler. Have them painted flat black with high heat paint. You barely see them and certainly not anymore than the spare tire carrier, which I have also painted flat black.

What color is your vette? Does the flat black accent the car or just hide the exhaust?
