Probably because he has one on hand. I bet the original one is pricey.

The 80-82 one looks like a Folgers coffee can.

Yep - he has one on hand. Just don't want to make this car with unnecessary modifications as it is very original in case I ever want to sell it. Would that kind of modification be an issue for resale you think? Hopefully, will get another '69 one day that will be modified for performance, etc. Thanks for your help. Josh

Just have him leave the original in the car. I hope this fixes your problem.

None of my cars' vacuum systems work perfectly.

I'd learn real quick how to work on my own car if i was treated like that. The wiper door issue is only cosmetic at this point. You can fix it if and when you feel like. Get the tools, read the sticky on this subject and test for yourself to see what's really broken.

Your regular car mechanic might be your best bet long term. He can come here to forum and get help when he's working on your car AND he might end up picking up a few more C3s in the future to work on.
C3s are not that difficult to work on,especially with the knowledge base of this forum.

Great diagram of the vac system. The major difference in 69 is there is only one control relay for the front headlight actuators. The hoses tee off after.
As for using the later vacuum can, the 69 can only be removed after removing the brake master and booster if so equiped. They do rust out and leak, but if not too bad could be repaired once out.

This part is also easily tested and SELDOM goes bad.
And when it does go bad (rust/hole) it's easily repaired with the patch job of your choice.
It's only a large can with three ports. Block one off, put a gauge on one, and draw a vacuum (or pressurize) the last one. It either holds vacuum/pressure or it leaks.
If it holds vacuum the gauge will tell you so. If it leaks under pressure it makes noise (or bubbles if you decide to use some liquid soap).

Be sure to ask for all your "swapped" parts back.

Thanks all - was out the past few hours and just got all the messages. Curby- that is what I think I am going to have him do, just leave it. Mike - tell me about it, going to start trying some things on my own and be a little more daring with what I am willing to try and undertake on my own. Roger - going to speak to my regular mechanic. C69 - he mentioned that the brakes master was fine so I don't think he was talking about doing anything with that but I might have misunderstood. Hammerhead- thanks, already told him that I want all parts back. Thanks all!!
