I have a CEC on my car and it turns off the vacuum after the car is warmed up--no vacuum pull when line disconnected from dist. can. Is that normal--if so--do you set the timing 8 degrees with the CEC connected and car warmed up. If I bypass it--it will not start because the timing is so advanced--not the 8 degrees which it is set at when connected and warmed up. Hope this makes sense. Runs fine at high idle but boggs down at start off from the line??
Hi Paul,
I have the CEC system working on my 71 base motor car.
I set the timing by following the directions in the Emissions Section of the 71 Chassis Service Manual and the specs shown on the Emissions Label above/behind the master cylinder.
I brought the engine to operating temperature, disconnected and plugged the vacuum advance hose, and set the timing.
The distributor, (points in my case), has the original springs and weights.
Here's a scan from the 71 CSM in case you don't have it.
Now that the CEC is working I think it's pretty neat, but my opinion would be different if it didn't!
Regards,
Alan
