hey guys can someone tell me what kind of tool i can use to take the center plate off of these wheels......looks like I can just use a screwdriver to remove it, i tried 1 but did not use a lot of force I did not want to strip it out. I just want to know if there is a special tool for this or just a screwdriver.....Thanks in advance...Steve
harbor freight has a screwdriver set that fits a 3/8" socket. it's got some really! big heads. i got it to disassemble the seats. it's less than $10 and has saved my butt several times(pun intended about the seats).
After stripping the head of almost every phillips-head screw on my first motorcycle, a Honda 90 back in the 60's, this was about the first tool I ever bought. I still have one today and would not be without it. I don't use it often, but when I need it, there is no substitute.
With the impact screwdriver. Best part is if you don't have one, they only cost about 10 bucks. Like GUSTO14 said, you may not use it often but when needed, it will pull you out of a bind. Works great because you control the force needed to get the job done. May just take a "tap" of the hammer in your case. Good luck!
I would suggest that you replace those screws with some that match the material and finish of the wheels...and, maybe, have a more positive socket with a less-common design (Torx, etc.) for ease of removal and security.
