Default 1979 Heater control valve

What would the correct heater control valve look like. I have found a few different types listed for this year. The exsisting one is metal and is just hanging between the heater hose. The AIM shows one with a metal bracket attached to the inner fender well.

I decided it just hangs, my 79 doesn't have the bracket as shown.

My 79 was not mounted. Just hung on the hose.
The aftermarket one I ordered from one of the Corvette houses is plastic. Original was metal.

Yes i guess the thing just hangs there. I see the black plastic one offered by the vendors, i will probably go with that one.

Ended up not needing it, had a leaky hose.
And yes, it just hangs there, no bracket.

And before you install a new one, check the vacuum system.
Pull the line up from the old and connect it to the new one in your hand. With the engine running and the 'temp' lever ON cold, see if you can blow through it.
I once had a problem with the vacuum SWITCH behind the glove box. It wasn't engaging.
Lived with it for 25 years before I tested it when I was thinking I needed a new valve

On my '78 I had no heat and took it off and rust poured out. Found a metal one. May have been Paragon, can't remember for sure. Heat works good now.
