Half Shaft Advice
Hello everyone,
For a 1973 Stingray, which half shaft length would be the most ideal replacement for the rear end?: 2.5" or 3.0"? Thanks in advance!

For a stock 1973 350 the 2.5" diameter half shaft is fine.

Do you
need halfshafts? They seldom fail. No sense buying halfshafts if all you need is u-joints.

I got a good deal on 3" halfshafts and put them in. One
turned out to be the wrong length - they made it oo long
. I then had to take the MF out, ship it back, put the replacement with the corrected length in. Plus (it had Spicer joints too) one of the plastic seals on one (can't remember if it was the too long HS or maybe even the other) was broken. To simplify things, I had them ship replacement seals. I then took the new ujoint with the broken seal out (myself mind you
) and replace it. My thoughts, get new u-joints and forget the 3" stuff. And get the ujoints without zerk fittings.

I'm sure I specified the year of my vehicle to the supplier. I think he just screwed up.

That's a yoke, not a half shaft.

absolutely right...it was a side yoke, not a half shaft. My total error. Engage brain, then post!
Thanks for pointing error out. I removed it since it wasn't the right part.
