Build me a 383!
Hey guys. Looking for engine combos that would include heads, pistons, rods, intake, carb, oil pump, water pump, and pretty much any part that you would use when building a 383 yourself. My vette is a 71 convertible. It has 4:11 gears and mated to a Tremec TKO600. It would need to run on pump gas and would be primirly used for weekend cruises, occasional flogging on the highways, and a few trips down the drag strip. Max rpm should be 6,000-7,000 rpm. My goal is to be somewhere in the 450/500HP range with torque rating close to the hp range. I do have a new MSD Tach drive dizzy that would be used and I would prefer either Edelbrock RPM Air Gap or Victor Jr. Intake. I'm also tossed between Dart or AFR Heads. The block is a non-matching 71 w/ standard bore that I would have machined locally. I know some of you would say to simply buy a crate motor, but I would have more pride in something I put together myself... By no means am I experienced with building motor combos, so i'm looking for any and all suggestions! Thanks.
