If Motion had done this in the late seventies it would be a $250.000 car. These are CUSTOMS and there is nothing wrong with anybody showing their fabrication skills. I love the chrome bumper cars I own 2 a 1969 coupe 427/435 and a 72 350 convertible. If you want to spend money you could buy a 2000 Corvette with a 62 or 67 fabricated body on them. I wonder if the C2 forum are haters.

my car is going to get the full Custom Image treatment soon with the flares and back bumper. For me it is just a logical choice. I had a chance to get a great deal on a 76 that has a new LS1 and tranny but had a C4 ZR1 back and disco front and was in primer. So nothing on the car is original anyway, and I am replacing the front and back, so why not make a car that is exactly what I want? I am not kidding myself into thinking that my 'vette is a good investment. If it were that rare, I would not be able to drive it that much, and I plan to drive the crap out of this thing. I also don't plan on selling it. Ever.
When it is done it will be exactly the car I want. A beautiful C3 with a crap load more HP then when it was new, way better milage, better handling, better brakes, better stereo. It will be a car I won't be afraid to put miles on. It will be a car that makes _me_ happy. That is all I am after.
I respect what the purists are doing. That is just not my thing. If I had a **** load of more money and more garage space I would probably have a stock numbers matching 69 to pamper and admire. But I would also have the exact same car I am building now so I could take it out and do whatever I want with it.
To each his own.

It simply makes no sense to destroy a 76-77 and make it into a wannabe early car. Those cars are not such "better drivers" than chrome bumper cars that you should buy one for $8000, spend 10000 making it look like a real chrome bumper car, and winding up with a parts junker Frankenstein worth $2000 when you are done.

If you dont care about modifications, buy a cheap 68-72 car and benefit from the huge price difference of having the wrong engine numbers and bad paint. You can buy a coupe in this configuration surprisingly cheap. Add nice suspension, tires and especially a fiberglass rear spring, making it just as nice a driver as a cheap '76 Then paint it whatever color you like and finish it your way.
vettebuyer5869 you need to understand your in the minority and not the majority. You are always ready with your opinion and dont mind expressing it. Well heres my opinion, the unmodified cars that you always refer to are nice and a must have to keep the history alive. But there are vette's that are are just beyond restoring to that level. I would have to spend $25,000 on my car to make perfect for your world. The majority of the C3's are just not worth bringing back to that level, so most people get creative and make a nice modified car. Some just drive them like they are and keep them pieced together. It would be nice if everyone had the money to burn but most of us dont. I understand Josh's frustration with your comments as I to get pissed at your stupid remarks like parts junker Frankenstein worth $2000. You must live in a really small world and that is sad. Looking forward to your next unintelligent post to mislead people. Mark

Josh,

I think the "Giggle Factor" is from those that don't have any creativity, and it's there way or no way.

There are a lot of us that like what you have done and just ignore those that are always hating.

Default What is missing?

The back of "The Mistress" is all painted and looks finished. Am I alone in wondering what is missing? I see no chrome bumper. I also don't see the holes in the quarterpanels and rear necessary to mount chrome bumpers. Since it makes no sense to paint the car before creating the very large holes needed to mount the bumper rods and hardware, I'm assuming "The Mistress" will have the no bumper look. Does that defeat the whole purpose of the mod? Before paying Josh big $$$ make sure there is a plan to mount the rear bumper. Josh, where is the rear bumper?

Clubby99 Josh provides a service that no other supplier provides. The pictures he shows are the prototyping of mistress. He leaves the option of mounting the chrome bumpers or leaving them off. I have ordered custom images rear bumper and chose not to install the chrome. Each custom vette is the design of the owner and some people like you dont like the custom vettes and thats ok. I think everyone knows you have it in for Josh and thats between you and him. Just dont mislead readers that his products are no good. I found Josh to be very helpful to work with and he is doing custom work for me at a reasonable price. Mark

This is being marketed as a chrome bumper mod. Yet I have not seen a pic with any chrome bumpers actually mounted on a car. Mounting rear bumpers would require significant modification using custom and/or stock parts. The engineering and design are likely more difficult than the fiberglass work. Does such a system to install the rear bumpers exist? If not say so and quit calling this a chrome bumper mod. Where are the rear bumpers? The Forum is waiting.

At least everything is Made in America.

Hey clubby have you stopped by custom image's website? The red 76 is mine... Did you see the chrome bumpers on the back? That shop, thats Josh's old shop.. The conversions work and look amazing. I seen his work and it's top notch. Why are you so upset cone bumper haters? Heck 2500$ for my 76 plus almost 1000$ in a chrome bumper conversion? Not to shabby for a knock off.. Plus I'm doing a 73 front bumper and already have the 69 gills in my fenders. So is mine a frankenvette? maybe it's how I want it. Not sure why everyones panties are in a bunch over this. I have a 02 ws6 trans am with a built 04 ls6 Z06 crate motor, vette wheels and WS6 side emblems that look like Z06 emblems on my fenders. Is the c5 crowd upset with me? Who knows who cares. 580hp and seats 4 for 40K less. Do the math. I like my 76 gives me a smile everytime I look at it. I can't wait till it's finished. It's mine, haters go ahead and laugh I just don't care. I'll be the first to say its a 76 with some 69 and 73 thrown in. I just hope I still get the vette wave and not outed because I thought out of the box...

I guess I'm wrong. I went to the Custom Image webpage. The chrome bumper conversion (with bumper attached) looks pretty good. Not a bad price either.

If you want a chrome bumper car keep looking for one, don't settle for something you really don't want.I like both rubber and chrome bumpers after all they're all C3 vette's.I bought a 76 cause I like the way the body flows and the price was right.I know I spent more on upgrades than the car is worth price wise but who cares!Mine looks stock on the outside but I have a few engine mods,Borgeson steering, and a ROD 6 spd.I drive it everywhere even in the rain.I get a lot of thumbs up and nice car remarks.Rubber or chrome no matter it sure is better than driving a ricer that sounds like a souped up blender, even if it can smoke me! Bottom line buy what your budget allows, decide if you want a driver or collector car.Good luck......[IMG][/IMG]
