Default Remove / Replace 73 Headlight Switch

Hi All,
I need a little help on removing the headlight switch. I've read the posts, sounds simple enough, yea right. I've dropped the steering column, removed the left side instrument panel screws, removed the left hand console forward trim, and the screws on the left side of the center gages. With all that, the left cluster pad is still very tight and I figure I'll ruin it forced.

It seems like I need to remove the left windshield pillar covering, possible the center console including the parking brake cover, possible the center gage cluster, and maybe the center dash pad bolt. Yikes, a total rebuild for 1 little switch.

Any helpful tips out there?
Thanks,
Randy

Its a little hard to pry out the lower dash from the upper dash, but it can be done. Try to leave the car under the direct sunlight for few hours, that would help a lot.

Fresh air/AC vent duct might be holding it in place.

Removing console, ebrake, and center cluster is more work than you want to do.

Did you remove the speedo and tach cables? These will difinately hold the cluster in place!

I'll try removing the tach & speedo cables, plus some warm desert sunlight tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas.
