Well, after my title issues were finally resolved on Friday, I got the car registered, and Saturday was spent tidying, cleaning and repairing for the American Classic Car Club's annual USA Day on a beautiful spring day in a small town called Woodend, just north of Christchurch, New Zealand. There were neary 500 cars there from vintage to the latest Camaro. A bunch from the Christchurch Corvettes met down the road, and went in together. That was cool! Finally, I can play too! But I did learn a very important lesson. If you want your Vette to stand out, don't park next to a 2010 ZR1!! I didn't pick up any prizes, but my father did win Best up to 1940 in his 39 Buick Special Coupe. The car later disgraced itself by springing a leak on the way home. Here are some shots.
Here's mine......
Damned ZR1!!
73 Coupe 454
Finally, some shots to show the scope of cars on the day. Quite a few cars were leaving, but you get an idea of the size of the thing.....
Neat! Didn't know event like this went on around the world.
Forgive me for sounding crazy, but I'd take a nice C3 over a ZR1 any day of the week!
Please don't flame me too hard!
Well I'm not going to flame you!
In NZ, there were more American cars here than any other kind until up to WW2. They were sent out here CKD and assembled in local plants. After WW2, the govt went more towards the British stuff, loyalty to the mother country, etc But nowadays, it's relatively easy to privately import cars from you guys, which means we get to show cool cars, and you get foreign money into your economy!
