After years of being parked and covered in the garage, Ive decided to take my 82 out to the road and be able to drive it "legally".
I estimate/expect to drive the car maybe 100 miles a month, or around 1200 miles a year. I would appreciate any recommendations for basic insurance. Thanks guys!
national corvette musuem. it is based on declared value. I pay 225ish a year for my 78 vette for 5k miles (only used 250 though) and a 0 dollar deductible and I am only 23 years old.
Ron, contact Adam Boca @ National Corvette Museum - a supporting sponsor. I had used a different carrier last year for my 73, however when I bought my 68 that spring, I found that NCM offered the coverage I desired. Now my 21 and 20 year old sons are covered and can drive the 73 to local events, which my previous carrier would not permit on their policy. NCM is more in tune with car enthusiasts needs. If you want FULL coverage then a specialty shop, like the NCM, is what you need to look for.
But for just liability most will cover that. I have just liability on my 73 right now. Not really driving it and have other vehicles to drive. May look into other options in the future.
How many miles per year and also if you have any tickets/accidents in the last 3 years will weigh heavy on your options.
I believe I have good insurance through Hagerty. Just check and see if they fit your needs. It was a lot cheaper than putting my '78 on my regular car insurance.
USAA is able to provide full coverage to me on my 77 along with all my other cars. Corverage is based on appraisal value by a approved 3rd party. $500 deductible 15000 miles a year. I pay around ~$450 (a little high) a year for this coverage but my vette is my DD and it has no driving limitations.

i was insured elsewhere for many years and decided to check out the NCM program. i got in touch with adam and was able to double my stated value coverage for not much more than i was originally paying elsewhere. he is excellent to deal with and the product is an excellent product.
Went with Grundy for two reasons. My 2001 Silverado was too old as a daily driver for most of the other companies I called, and Grundy has unlimited mileage....about $230/mo.
