Sleezeville.....remember it well. Is "Jessies Night Heat" still around? Nothing better than a bar/dance club up front and a titty bar in back. I used to drive my 79 Volare to Alexandria (45 minutes away) just to go to a mall. Im leaving for Kuwait in January, they are telling me we are doing a JRTC rotation beforehand....Ill look you up! (yeah, cause a JRTC rotation leave you with SO much free time....)

how about Dee Dee's Lounge

Lake Charles.... you can make it in about an hour...and again...the cops are relentless around post...they used to look for post decals as a sign to stop you. When I was there they had just got the WalMart

I will say this...enjoy the food whil eyou are there and try and get invited to a Cajun cookout

Houston is only a few hours West

Have fun

signed former 31M 5th Sig BN 5th ID....if it ain't rainin' it ain't trainin'

and it always rains on Ft Polk.

I was stationed down there for a few years. I moved away about three years ago. The only stretch of road you have to worry about is 127? (I think) They only really stake it out around mid night until 0200 for obvious reasons. I never had a problem while I was there. Dee Dee's is gone, Night heat is gone, Las Mas was on the restricted list (probably because of us [84 Engineers])

Pegasus is still there though, I'm sure of it. Frozen Spirits was still there and a good place to shoot pool.

I actually bought my first Corvette down there.

Wow, I saw Fort Polk on the subject line and thought I better look at this for sympathy purposes. I was stationed there for about 5 years back when 3rd street was a jumpin hangout (literally looked like Mardi Gras on Friday nights, especially payday Fridays). Many first time experiences at that place

New LLano was and I believe still is the problem area for speed traps (worse than Nolanville, TX near Ft Hood).

I was in a Hot Rod club (67 Chevelle days) that hung out various nights of the week at Morris tires just as you come into Leesville (right side of the road). At the time, the pres of the club worked there (for his father) but may own it now. He'll know everything about anything to do with cars, clubs and the local area happenings. Long shot but may be worth a try to stop and shoot the crap with the guys there to see what you can find out.

Good Luck

Terry
