C-3 tire size
I am look for the correct tire size for a 1975 corvette with stock 8" rally wheels. I have been to several tire outlets and I get different answers. What are you running?

All I know is that I will never go with 60 series tires again... 235x70's fill out the rear fenderwells much better then the 60's....

GR70-15s were stock. 225R-15s would be close.

The GR70-15 was the OEM size. Tires went to metric sizing in 1978, and the GR70 designation was replaced with P225/70R-15.
The metric sizing is still in use today, so P225/70R-15 is still the correct replacement size, for your 75's original GR70's.

60-series tires weren't an option until 1978 when the body panels were modified for clearance.

A 237/70 was a small suv truck tire if thats what you want.
If you won't go 255/60s that fit your car than get the right size 225/70s.

Both 225-70-15 and 255-60-15 are within 1/4" of the same diameter, but the 255 has a 1 inch wider section width.

That is indeed correct, but the OP said
original size for his '75 car. The 255/60s, as previously mentioned, were not available until 1978, and I believe first available on the Indy pace cars.
