Depends on the position, indeed. But sounds like an older company.
A while back there was some company that was doing performance work on
vettes. But they were bad businessmen. Tracdogg (Mike) may know who
they were. Don't recall names though...
Call him and see if you can setup a time to meet with him, take your resume, hope for an interview. At the very least you might get a tour of the shop.
Set up an interview, and ask as many questions as you answer. You have the love of the cars, you know there is a market out there for parts and accessories and you have first hand knowledge of the entire workings of the series. I assume the job offer was for his parts department? If I were offered such an opportunity I would certainly see what the deal really was... who knows, you may have just been offered your dream position... and failing that certainly a huge resume builder. An hour or so spent in conversation will tell you a lot about the business' expectations of you, and a bit about how they treat their employees as well. I wish you the best if you decide to interview.
Go with your gut feelings. Do not be afraid of change, but if you need more info on Duntov, go right to the source. Duntov. Don't rely on what somebody on an Internet site may tell you. Good or bad. My son had a few reservations before accepting a job offer with his latest company based on what he read of them on the Internet. Turns out, he loves his new job and is really impressing his superiors. They are giving him more challenging work simply because he thrives on it. Even if he leaves in the future, the experience gained is extremely valuable.
Not many people walking up to one and offering jobs doing something they would love.
Take it, they arent growing on trees right now.
Worked for a Vette restorer many yrs ago. Total crook but loved the work and learned a whole lot about frame offs and whats really involved.
Cant buy experience!
