Fast81 is TOAST.............I feel SICK
I've had my 81 stored with my parents in MN while i moved around with the AF and could settle down when i retire in 2013. I'd get to drive her every summer when i went home to visit to release her from hibernation.
Well, today my dad was burning branches and the fire spread and burned the 40 X 60 storage bldg holding Fast81 to the ground. My 81 litteraly melted into a blob.
I feel sick about losing 9+ yrs of upgrades and mods................

Wow, that sucks.....I mean, that REALLY sucks.......but hey, there are plenty of '81 'vettes out there, just get another one and start over. Just keep telling yourself "It's just a car."

Man, I think I can envision what you must be feeling. That is really a sad story. First I hope that your dad and family is ok, and that it was isolated to the garage. Hopefully something is covered under an insurance plan somewhere.

Really sorry to hear about your 81. By my math, it looks like you have a year to find a new one AND since you'll be retired, you can modify the new one in a fraction of time!

I can't even imagine how you Dad feels. I hope for you and your Dad that the home owner's insurance steps up. In the mean time you may want to remind him of how much you love him. I think that may help him as well as you get through this.

Reminds me of what my Dad did to my car, 25 years ago I rebuilt from the ground up a 1966 VW Bug. (only year with a push button door ****) took me 18 months. About two months after I had it he wanted to borrow it to go to work and show his buddies. Well he made a U-Turn in front of a Mustang. BAMM, Just like that it was TOTALED. Worst part is that I had to look at it everyday in my driveway till I got rid of it. I feel your pain. But ypu can replace your car, NOT YOUR DAD.

I feel for your loss, buddy. I have been there. Lost my mint original 20,000 mile black 1980 Vette in 1989. Stored for winter in a quonset (with roughly 40 other cars) on the outskirts of the city. Thieves broke in and stripped all the cars. Sad part of this story - no insurance on my part -Yeah, I know but I was young and stupid. Anyways, the sun will rise the next day and you will rebound. I just picked up the pieces (literally) and moved forward. Had 3 Vettes after. Good luck - let your DAD know you still love him.

That does suck but I doubt anyone including yourself feels as bad as your Father does right now.
I hope everything works out with the claim but more importantly I hope your Father and you handle this well together.

That's just tragic! Whatever the reason or explanation, it won't bring your beloved 81 back. I'm glad your dad is ok and no one got hurt in the fire.
Grieve for a while then remember, when one door closes, others tend to open up.
Best wishes
