Default REmoving compound splatter off convert rear window

When 69 convert body work and paint was complete, I wound up with polishing compound splattered all over the rear window. Any suggestions how to remove?

Grease and wax remover like pre-cleano or a 50/50 water/rubbing alcohol solution will work.

Next time you wheel the car, consider masking off the areas you don't want to get schmutz on.

Isn't that window plastic? Do not us alcohol based products on the plastic rear window. I would try simple green and a microfiber rag. Make the liquid do all the work as you don't want to scratch it.

If that does not work try a half cup white vinegar in a quart of water. Works on mt bikes windshield.

Actually if it's just compound I would use warm water to remove it.

You could try bug and tar remover. I use it on my plastic bumpers, but those are painted. Just throwing it out there. I don't own verts so I am not really knowledgable.

Take a paper towel as long as the window, double it over, soak it in water to the point of dripping, gently place the wet towel across the splatter, leave the towel on for about 15 minutes, the towel will pick up most of it when you take it off, fold it over so the splatter is toward the inside and wipe the rest off.

Works on painted surfaces as well,

Frank

Folding top rear is plastic; optional hard top rear is glass.

rinse it off with a hose, let the water do the work, do not rub.
It will come off without damage

Lots of water. Rubbing will cause scratches. You may still want to lightly polish depending on what the overall condition of the window is. After all you do have fresh paint now so you want the entire car to look new.

A stiff, wire brush and some kerosene will make short work of that splatter!!!

Seriously, I don't have much experience with this sort of thing, specifically, but logic dictates that you should try the mildest methods first, and , if needed, move on to harsher methods. I would try just running a lot of water over it from the garden hose, as has been mentioned previously, and escalate from there, if need be. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Anybody else think the chemicals in the polish will leave little telltale spots on the plastic?

A few years a go I was doing some touch up work on my convertible and got a little over spray on the clear vinyl. I knew solvents would damage it. I used what the manufacturer said to use to clean any of the upholstery adhesive that might get on the top with. WD-40 and it worked great. Not saying that you need to use WD-40 for your problem but thought I would share how I cleaned up a more serious mess. For compound splatter I would just lay warm to hot wet towels on the window and then spray it off.
