Default Need help with Pricing

Hi, I am a new member, wanted to say a quick hello, and of course, ask for advice from the experts. My friend's dad asked me to help him sell his 1982 Corvette with 38,400 miles on it. I am not sure what the going rate is and wanted to get some feedback. Of course, I have looked at fleabay, but, since I am a Landcruiser and Porsche guy and am active in their forums, I figured this would be the best place to get a real feel for it.

Here are some pics - https://picasaweb.google.com/1178519...eat=directlink

The wiring harness was just replaced as it is stored in a barn and the rats got to it, no other damage. The car is located in IL, but off the road in wintertime.

What other information would be required to get a realistic estimate?

Thanks in advance for your help, hope to be a long time member of the forum with the Z06 I am looking at...

First, the car looks really sharp. How many miles are on it? What is the condition of the chassis and birdcage? Is the engine complete and stock? AC/heat/headlights/and all accessories work? More pics of the interior, engine, and underside is possible that would help. Once more is known a pretty good estimate can be given by others reading this.

Car is all stock, everything according to the mechanic who replaced the harness, is original and functional. Has all of the usual options, such as A/C, PW, PB, PS, power seats, etc. Also has the following option codes:
C49 ELECTRIC REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER
DG7 ELECTRIC TWIN REMOTE SPORT MIRR
D84 CUSTOM TWO TONE PAINT
FE7 GYMKHANA SUSPENSION
K35 AUTO SPEED CONTROL W/RESUME SPD
L83 5.7 LITER CFI V8
MX0 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION W/OVERDRIVE
N90 ALUMINUM WHEELS
QXH P255/60R-15 S/B RAD W/LTR
UM6 ELEC TUNED STE. RAD W/CASS TAPE
U75 POWER ANTENNA
13L CORVETTE SILVER METALLIC
74C HRR2 DARK RED CLOTH BUCKET

I will work on getting more photos of the mentioned areas.

Thanks for the help!

Brian

It's worth $1,000.00. When can I pick it up?

I saw a few nice examples at the Mecum Bloomington Gold auction and the auction in St. Charles in September, and IIRC they all seemed to sell between $7,250 and $9,000.

it looks like it is worth around $15,000 but...the owner would have to decide what the lowest price he would let it go

not a good time with so many people hurtin out there
& probably the best time to sell would be in the Spring

Pete.

All of the above was standard equipment on the 82 models.

...13L CORVETTE SILVER METALLIC...74C HRR2 DARK RED CLOTH BUCKET...
Exterior and interior colors were buyer choices. No cost. Leather upholstery was standard; cloth was a no cost choice.

All above were optional. The glass tops were also optional. I'm guessing the car also has the optional rear speakers.

The car looks really nice.

I would say it is in the $10,000 to $12,000 range in today's market. If you put it on eBay, it will probalby bring $8,500 to $10,000.

Everyone is paying wholesale prices now.

It would be better to keep the car stored for a few more years if he can. Keep the mice away.

I agree with Curby. $10K - $12K on its best day to the right buyer. If it were a more popular color like red, black, or silver it would definitely fetch more. If your friends dad really need to sell it, post it up in the classifieds for around $3K above the minimum he wants for it and see what happens. Ebay is kind of a crap shoot these days but you can try it if you want. Keep us posted on it.
