Remove the lower steering column cover (1 screw); drop the bracket with the manual override valves on it (2 screws); remove one bolt on the mounting bracket for that A/C duct.
Then just separate the duct pieces enough to pull it out. Be careful not to bend that duct...it's expensive to replace it.
Thank you! When I removed the steering column cover and the manual override valve cover today I could not find the bracket for the duct. I'll try again tomorrow.
There is just one metal bracket (about 1" wide) riveted to that duct. The end of that bracket mounts to the bottom side of the steering column (if I remember correctly)...somewhere near where the interior light is mounted...with one small hex-headed bolt.
Happy new years to you also! You may need to depress the brake pedal and or the clutch pedal to be able to drop the duct after all is disconnected. I'm not sure on all the C3's but on my 68 you do not need to take anything off or disconnect anything other than that one inch wide bracket shown in the above AIM.
